Open My Eyes Lord
When he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I can do this?" "Yes, Lord," they said to him. Then he touched their eyes and said, "Let it be done for you according to your faith." And their eyes were opened.
(Matthew 9:28-29)
Advent offers us an opportunity to open our eyes and to see the needs of others, to be compassionate, not condemning. When we are quick to judge another, it is as if we are covering our own eyes and not allowing our hearts to see that person the way God sees him/her.
Today when you are cut off in traffic or pushed aside in the checkout line or the recipient of some harsh words, "uncover" your eyes and look for God in that person. Simply say, "Open my eyes, Lord. I want to see your face." And offer a prayer for that person. Ask God to bless their day and bring them joy.
